Primary Care — Tone & Core
Preoperative Risk Assessment
Preparing You Safely for SurgeryBefore undergoing any surgical procedure, your surgical team needs a complete picture of your medical status. A preoperative risk assessment identifies any factors that could affect safety — so your entire team is prepared before you go in. This service is available exclusively through the Tone & Core primary care membership — built for long-term patients, not one-time visits.

What Is a Preoperative Risk Assessment?
A preoperative risk assessment (also called a pre-op clearance or preoperative medical evaluation) is a clinical visit performed before a planned surgical procedure to assess your overall medical health, identify any conditions that could increase surgical risk, and ensure you are medically optimized for surgery.
At Tone & Core in Lakewood Ranch, Dr. Vargas performs preoperative evaluations for patients scheduled for elective or planned procedures. The assessment includes a review of your complete medical history, current medications, allergies, cardiovascular and pulmonary health, and any conditions that may require management before you proceed.
Following your evaluation, Dr. Vargas provides documentation of your medical clearance status for your surgeon and anesthesiologist, and will communicate any recommendations that should be addressed before surgery.
If additional cardiology, pulmonology, or specialist evaluation is required prior to proceeding, Dr. Vargas will assist with coordinating those referrals to ensure your care is properly sequenced.
We proudly serve patients from Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Sarasota, Parrish, Palmetto, and surrounding Gulf Coast communities.
